The last decade of the 19th-century brought symbolism and mysticism into every area of life as people contemplated the new century and what it might bring. Moons, stars, comets, and other heavenly phenomena were popular motifs in clothing and jewelry. This delicate sliver of a crescent moon brooch is crafted of rich 15ct gold, with a graduated curve of natural pearls set in fancy collets. A gold band forms the crescent's inner arc, while the collets create the scalloped outer edges. Engraved beaded detail embellishes each end of the crescent. The dreamy piece fastens with a long pin and security clasp. Circa 1910.
Details.....The crescent measures 2.27" long and measures 0.17" at its widest point. In Very Good Antique Condition. You should always expect some wear on antique and vintage jewels; we consider it part of their charm.
